Getting started

Make your first email countdown timer and put it in an email in about five minutes.

An Inboxclock timer is an image that is drawn at the moment someone opens your email. It shows the real time left, then plays for a short time. Each new open draws a new image.

1. Design the timer

Open the editor with Make a timer. You do not need an account to design.

  1. Under When it ends, choose a timer type and set the deadline. Most campaigns use Fixed date.
  2. Under Look, pick a template, then change the layout, font and colors.
  3. Under After it ends, choose what old emails show when time runs out.

The preview on the right uses the same drawing code as the email image. Preview GIF shows the exact file.

2. Save and copy the code

Select Save and get code. If you are new, create an account and confirm your email address. Saving needs a confirmed address.

On the Embed tab, choose your email platform and select Copy code.

3. Paste it into your email

In your email platform, add a block that accepts HTML (usually called HTML, Code or Custom HTML) and paste the code. Platform guides show the exact block for each platform.

4. Test it

Send a test email to yourself and open it. The timer shows the time left at that moment. Open it again a minute later and the time has moved on.

Email apps cannot load images from localhost. If you run Inboxclock on your own computer, deploy it first and copy the code from your live domain.
