Embedding a timer

The embed code, the image-URL method, and how to place a timer in any email platform.

The embed code

The Embed tab gives you one line of HTML:

<img src="https://inboxclock.app/t/TIMER-ID.gif" width="600" height="160"
     alt="Countdown to Oct 30, 2026, 10:00 PM (America/New_York)"
     style="display:block;width:100%;max-width:600px;height:auto;border:0;margin:0 auto;" />
  • width and height match your timer’s size, so the layout does not jump while the image loads.
  • The style makes the timer shrink on narrow phone screens.
  • The alt text describes the deadline for readers who block images and for screen readers.

If the timer has a click-through link, the image is wrapped in a link to /l/TIMER-ID. That is the smart link, which counts clicks and can change destination after the deadline.

Where to paste it

Use a block that accepts custom HTML. Platforms call it HTML, Code, Custom HTML or the source-code view of a text block. See the guide for your platform.

The image-URL method

Some editors only accept an image by URL. Copy the image URL from the Embed tab and paste it into an image block. This works too, with two differences:

  • Set the image width yourself (usually 600 pixels).
  • If you use a smart link, set the image’s link to the /l/TIMER-ID address yourself.

One timer, many emails

A timer can appear in any number of emails. When you change the timer, every email shows the change on its next open. For evergreen timers this is useful: put the same timer in the first and second email of a series and the reader sees one consistent deadline.
