Live counters

Show a live number in email, such as seats left, stock or money raised, with an optional progress bar.

A counter is a live number in an image. Use it for “Only 12 seats left”, “84 in stock” or “$7,300 raised”. Like a timer, it is drawn again every time the email opens, so readers always see the latest number.

Make a counter

  1. Select New timer, then choose Live counter at the top of the editor.
  2. Enter the Number and the Text that follows it, such as “seats left”.
  3. Optional: enter a Goal. The counter then shows a progress bar and a percentage.
  4. Optional: add a symbol Before the number, such as $ or €.

Save, then copy the code from the Embed tab. It works exactly like a timer.

Keep the number up to date

  • By hand: change the number in the editor and save. Every email shows the new number on its next open.
  • Automatically: update it from your shop, booking system or Zapier with the API:
curl -X POST https://inboxclock.com/v1/timers/TIMER-ID/counter \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer ick_..." -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"increment": -1}'

Send {"value": 12} to set the number, or {"increment": -1} to change it.

Good to know

  • A counter is one still image, so it is small and works in every email app, including Outlook for Windows.
  • Numbers below zero show as zero.
