Account and security

Sign-in options, email confirmation, password reset, sessions, notifications and deleting your account.

Signing in

Sign in with Google, GitHub, or an email address and password. You can connect Google and GitHub to an existing account under Account → Sign-in methods, and add a password to an account that started with Google or GitHub.

If you sign in with Google or GitHub using the email address of an existing account, the two are connected.

Email confirmation

New email accounts must confirm their address before saving timers. The link in the email works for 48 hours. Send a new link on the yellow banner sends a fresh one.

Forgotten password

Use Forgot password? on the sign-in page. The reset link works for one hour and only once. Resetting signs you out everywhere else.

Changing your email

Under Account → Email address, enter the new address. Inboxclock sends a confirmation link to the new address; nothing changes until you click it. Your old address then gets a notice with a This was not me link, valid for 7 days. That link moves the account back, signs everyone out and removes the password and connected accounts, so the real owner can recover the account.

Sessions and alerts

Account → Signed-in browsers lists every browser signed in to your account. Sign out any of them, or all except the current one.

You get an email when:

  • a browser that has not been used before signs in,
  • your password or email address changes,
  • Google or GitHub is connected or disconnected.

Security emails cannot be turned off.

Deleting your account

Account → Delete account removes your account, timers and stats permanently. Enter your password to confirm (or type DELETE if your account has no password). Timers in sent emails then show “This countdown is unavailable”.
